The Department of Digital Health and Biomedical Technologies is a source of innovative developments for the biomedical sector, with applications such as digital health, decision support systems, biomedical image analysis, applied bioinformatics, biomedical simulation, computer-assisted surgery and many others. The department is currently involved in several projects of the Horizon Europe Health program and is a source of innovative technological developments for healthcare providers and companies in the sector.
We are looking for a researcher with a vocation for applied research and with proven scientific-technological experience to join the technological line of Image Analysis and Artificial Intelligence and with the aim of pursuing a PhD in the field, in collaboration with a prestigious university, while participating in various collaborative or industrial applied research projects in the field.
Candidates must show a proactive attitude towards applied research, demonstrating excellent technical skills and if possible scientific expertise (e.g. publications) in the offered topic, a proven ability to work in a team and a commitment to understand the needs of clients and project partners. Candidates must have the necessary technical skills (at programming or conceptualization level) to convert their knowledge into real software/AI solutions, with emphasis on deep learning technology in medical imaging. The ability to generate new ideas that can be translated into industrial R&D projects or offers, as well as to bring projects and initiatives in this line of research to a successful conclusion will be an asset.
Candidates must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Computer or Telecommunications Engineering, Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or similar.
- Specialization Master's degree in topics related to Artificial Intelligence in Health.
- Proven scientific-technological experience (projects, previous work, publications) in the field of artificial intelligence with medical imaging and in particular with Deep learning networks (CNNs, etc).
- Experience with Deep learning programming environments such as Keras, Tensorflow, Pytorch... as well as other Machine Learning environments.
- Programming knowledge (Python...).
- Good level of Spanish and written and spoken English.
We value candidates:
- Previous participation in projects or aligned research groups.
- Experience in state-of-the-art deep learning networks (Transformers, Diffusion Models...).
- Knowledge of the DICOM medical imaging standard.
- Knowledge of regulatory aspects (ISO-13485) or validation of this type of solutions.
- Knowledge of integration (Docker) and continuous deployments (CI/CD) through Gitlab will be an asset.
- Motivation to continuously acquire knowledge and new skills.
