Mª Jesús García Gonzalez receives the Best Paper Award at the Conference on Innovation in Medicine and Healthcare (InMed 2023) within the KES International

The KES International Conference on Innovation in Medicine and Healthcare (KES-InMed-23) was held in Rome on 14-16 June and awarded the Best Paper Award to Mª Jesús García Gonzalez, from the Digital Health and Biomedical Technologies team.

The winning article is entitled "Deep learning-based assessment of histological grading in breast cancer whole slide images" and has been developed within the framework of the CADIA project.

It has developed an automatic method to support the task of breast cancer prognosis. Specifically, 1374 digitised breast biopsies have been used to develop a deep learning model capable of predicting the different components of histological grading (tubularity and pleomorphism), as well as returning the results visually in the form of a heat map to guide in the localisation of regions of interest.

This award is a clear recognition of the high quality and impact of his research.
