Ten technological projects, five Spanish and five European, will compete in the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge, the competition for entrepreneurs and recently created start-ups whose development is based on technologies applicable to the audiovisual field.
The Spanish projects will participate in a specific competition that is part of 'Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech', one of the four axes of 'Spanish Screenings XXL. An international market for Spanish audiovisual production'.
The five finalists in the state competition are Festival Infinito, a project that, through the metaverse, creates an interactive virtual environment so that the public can enjoy audiovisual content in a unique and participatory way from anywhere; Union Avatars, which offers tools for users and companies to manage their digital identity through avatars; VRMulticam, which unifies immersive audiovisual technologies and broadcasting in a single service, offering a unique experience to the viewer; and WitScript, which, thanks to machine learning, creates optimised processes for sound professionals, enabling them to speed up QA/QC (quality verification and quality control) of voice audio for dubbing, audio books and audiovisual and multimedia content in general. Finally, an entrepreneurial team from the Basque Country will present Bonzo Producciones, which offers an integrated motion control system, high-speed camera and Led Wall, allowing high-quality, complex productions to be made on a tight budget and in a reduced timeframe.
Among the European projects selected were Anymate Me (Germany), which makes it possible to create synthetic videos generated by artificial intelligence through the introduction of text in real time, as well as the production of synthetic videos in sign language from text (text-to-sign); Dreambird (UK) which, by applying different technologies, develops a global platform that aims to be a meeting point between creators and their audience so that they can provide creative and financial support to projects at all stages; Drylab Media Tech (UK) which, using cloud technology, provides the teams involved in the production process with access to the material filmed from anywhere at all stages of production; HyperRate. io (Germany), a mobile application that allows creators to connect with their audience's heart rate to create links with them and identify and offer them on their terminals the clips with the greatest emotional impact; and Marionette (Denmark) which, based on artificial intelligence, captures movements in real time so that 3D animation professionals can create the movements of their characters at lower cost and high quality.
The Basque Government, through the Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment and SPRI, is promoting the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge, the central initiative of the Zinemaldia & Technology conference, organised by the San Sebastian Festival in collaboration with TECNALIA, ALÍA (Audiovisual Industrial Alliance) and Vicomtech.
