Eusko Ikaskuntza and Vicomtech have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at improving translation tools

Eusko Ikaskuntza and Vicomtech have signed a collaboration agreement to improve translation technologies.
Vicomtech researches on tools that place Basque at a technological maturity level (TRL) comparable to other majority languages such as Spanish and / or English. For its part, Eusko Ikaskuntza has and generates a large amount of bilingual content that can serve to improve this technology.
Through this agreement, Eusko Ikaskuntza shares with Vicomtech the bilingual funds contained in the Euskonews magazine. More specifically, there are 726 interviews that have been published in both Basque and Spanish. A very important volume and of direct application to the improvement of the translation tools on which Vicomtech has been working.
The agreement also includes the granting for two years to Eusko Ikaskuntza of rights to use the IDAZLE Platform for automatic subtitling of audiovisual content in Basque and Spanish.
