The Innovation Week organized by the Department of Economic Promotion through Fomento de San Sebastián was held from October 22 to 28, focused on the commitment that San Sebastián has been making in recent years for scientific development, with the aim of consolidate San Sebastián as a city of Science and Innovation.
Vicomtech, one more year has turned to this initiative and has participated extensively in numerous activities organized during the days of celebration of the DSS WeekINN.
Representatives of the Center have offered presentations aimed at different profiles of citizens made up of delegates from the economic-business field, representatives of institutions, students in their last years of ESO and baccalaureate, and citizens in general. Thus, Oihana Otaegui, Director of the Transport and Security Division, participated in the Weekinn Opening Congress that was held on Monday 24 at the Kursaal with the presentation "Artificial Intelligence for transport and security"; Daniel Vander Vorst, from International Projects, led the student-oriented sessions offering practical examples of Artificial Intelligence applications to 4th ESO and Baccalaureate students both in a visit to the Vicomtech facilities and in the session organized at the Kursaal directed a hundred young people.
On the other hand, Unai Elordi, a researcher specialized in Deep Fake and Artificial Intelligence, offered an informative talk to the public in the Alderdi Eder tent in which he had the opportunity to answer the numerous doubts and questions raised by the attendees on this matter. . In this same tent, the video-interview offered by the Deputy Director, Jorge Posada, was made available to the public, among others, in which he transfers the opportunities offered by the city centers to investigate and develop Artificial Intelligence technologies to through practical examples from everyday life.
In addition, a group of Vicomtech researchers from different parts of Spain and Europe participated in the meeting aimed at professionals from outside the Basque Country in the field of Research, innovation and entrepreneurship. The objective of this space was for these people to contribute their vision regarding the challenges that the city must face in initiatives aimed at attracting talent, entrepreneurship projects and the development of lines of research that are internationally referenced.
With this joint and integrated commitment, Vicomtech, in line with its technological and social mission, has once again demonstrated its commitment to the development of people, the promotion of scientific careers for young people and the promotion of science, technology and innovation in the city and its surroundings.
