Abstract
Rapidly evolving, high severity hazards in the form of natural or man-induced disasters require prompt and well-planned deployment of first responders to reduce the overall disaster footprint with specific emphasis on human lives. Increased situational awareness and better common operational picture requires not only new technologies like UAVs, UGVs AR/MR glasses and other modalities to be deployed in the field but also smooth, consolidated, bidirectional, augmented information flow between first responders and command centers. RESPOND-A is a technology enhancement initiative that focuses on providing First Responders with immediate access to technological advancements during their mission by integrating innovative equipment, robust data pipelines and network services. Our approach is expected to further enhance the deployment of optimal Risk Mitigation strategies and improve mission safety by enabling pre-disaster planning tools and post-disaster performance assessment and model integration to further improve performance in similar operations.
