The 5G Forum is the first multidisciplinary conference on 5G technology to be held in Spain, at the Nissan Cartuja Auditorium in Seville from 6 to 10 May. It is a forum of reference in which every year the advances in 5G technology are presented, providing an opportunity to exchange knowledge of the practical applications of this technology with leading experts in the field. In addition to Vicomtech, leading 5G entities such as Netmetrix, OFG, Wavecontrol, Axion, UMA -University of Malaga, Gradiant, Hispasat, Gsertel, AI Funded, Opossum and Gamma Solutions, or operators such as MasOrange, Telefónica and Vodafone participated in the conference.
Vicomtech attended as Key Note Speaker presenting 6G DIFERENTE (6G Distributed and Federated Experiments in Radio, Edge and Non-Terrestrial Networks), the Cervera Network of Excellence project that addresses the future of mobile communications, which the centre coordinates and leads together with the participation of other centres such as Gradiant and i2cat.
On the second day of the 5G Forum conference, Vicomtech researcher Dr. Sergio Cabrero, coordinator of the project, presented 6G DIFERENTE with his presentation ‘Researching the future of mobile communications’.
6G DIFERENTE is an approach to the design of a comprehensive 5G network architecture, evolvable to 6G technologies, bringing together the experience and capabilities of 3 leading technology centres with extensive experience in 6G: Vicomtech, i2cat and Gradiant. Moreover, 6G DIFERENTE is developed thanks to the support and funding of CDTI Innovation.
A great opportunity for both Vicomtech as a centre and 6G DIFERENTE as a project to showcase their capabilities in 5G and 6G network innovation environments, taking a step further into the future of telecommunications.
