Abstract
Systematic literature studies aim to identify, evaluate, and combine evidence from primary studies using a rigorous method. These analyses can be time-consuming, so it is necessary to use automatic tools which optimise this process and help to obtain as much insight as possible about a research subject. We present a tool named Pysurveillance which supports researchers in the initial stages of the literature review process. This work describes (i) The process of designing and constructing Pysurveillance and (ii) a comparative study with other similar tools. The results obtained show that Pysurveillance is a tool that can be considered to support researchers in their literature review processes. It is an open-source software tool based on Python that provides researchers quantitative and qualitative bibliometric results that allow them to analyse different levels about a specific topic through visual analytics.
